LO: I can spell many of the 3 and 4 spellings.
This week we are going to work on spelling the words on our 3 and 4 spelling list. We would normally have spelling sessions and tests in school. We haven’t been able to do this at the moment so I am going to do a week of focused spelling activities.
I would like you to look at the 3 and 4 spelling lists before we start and pick 4 - 8 of the spellings that you do not know or regularly get confused with. Write them down or highlight them on the spelling fish I have added. These are the spellings you will focus on this week and by the end of the week you are aiming to get these spelling correct.
Monday and Tuesday you can choose whether to use the different links below to find games you can play online or do the word searches and crosswords to practise general spellings. If you want to challenge yourself once you have completed one of the activities see if you can think of a sentence (With a compound sentence, subordinate clause or fronted adverbial) using the correct spellings of some of the 3 and 4 spellings.)
Wednesday and Thursday, you are going to focus on the 4 - 8 spellings you really struggle with and learn them through games and practise activities. (You know the best way you learn spellings but if you need some advice I would use the Look, Cover, Write, Check to help you learn them.)
Friday, we will do a piece of writing including these spellings to show you can spell the words and include them in your writing.
After this week, we will be starting Esio Trot and writing our own trick and part of the focus for this is spellings. I will be reading Esio Trot to you over the next week and asking some questions for you to think about. Then you will have your spelling activity to do alongside this. Please see the website to find the videos or if you have Esio Trot you can read this yourself or have an adult to read it to you.
