LO: I can order fractions with same denominator.

Today we are looking at how we order fractions. So begin with when the fraction has the same denominator you are ordering the numerator. So the higher the numerator the bigger the fraction.

We can also order unit fractions as all the numerators are one. When we look at these it is best to use a pizza (Circle of paper) or a strip of paper to see what order they will go in.

E.g. 1/2 is larger than 1/4 because you only have one piece in each as the numerator is 1 but in 1/2 you get a larger piece.

There is a problem solving task and also a greater depth task if you are feeling confident which applies your knowledge of equivalent fractions with ordering.
