LO: I can subtract fractions with the same denominator.

Today similar to yesterday, we are going to work through some questions with fluency, reasoning and problem solving when adding fractions.

When you subtract fractions with the same denominator, you subtract the numerators and the denominator stays the same. You do not subtract the denominators.

E.g.   6/10 - 2/10 = 4/10

As you can see I have coloured the 6 sections of the ten. Then I have crossed out 2. That leave us with 4/10 – 4 tenths. The denominator stays the same.
