Over the last 4 weeks of term, Year 3 and 4 are going to recap the four operations and the written method for these. There will be 3 challenges on each day and you need to choose the one that you think is best for you. Year 3 should be focusing on challenge 1 or 2 but if you want to challenge yourself go for 3.

Over the next few weeks we are going to recap the 4 operations and the formal written method for each.
This week we are going to start with column addition.
Today we are going to remind ourselves of the process and focus on remembering how to lay it out and adding 3 and 4 digit numbers with no exchange.
Top tips for column addition
ü Put the HTOs at the top.
ü Make sure you follow down the columns.
ü Always start with the ones column.
ü Use your hundreds, tens and ones pictorial representations to help you.
