Compare their own and other people’s ideas to the statement: People become more selfish at Christmas AT2
They will be able to engage with and respond to the question has Advent lost it meaning? (Note: they must do more than give a personal opinion. They must use scripture and other sources to explain their views.) AT3
Year 6
Age Related Expectations
Pupils will be able to show an understanding of the Annunciation, how artists have portrayed this event and explain the way this informs Christian belief. AT1
Pupils will be able to describe and show understanding of different Biblical texts, texts used in mass during Advent and explain how they inform the Christian understanding of preparing in AT1 (Note in order to do this they will have to draw out the key aspects of the texts )
Pupils will be able to take a specific issue concerning our lives and compare and contrast Christians and non-Christians might respond. AT2 (depending on the response this might be working at greater depth. To be working at greater depth the evidence must be secure)
Pupils can explain what beliefs and values inspire and influence Christians to keep Advent as a season of preparation and penance. They will be able to:
