Born in Epping and educated in Chingford, Essex, I commenced my career thereafter, in the Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunications Industry. Married in 1966, travelled to South Africa in 1972, where we lived for thirty seven years. Our two children were educated and graduated from University in South Africa and now live in Singapore and London. We returned to the United Kingdom in 2011 and moved to Burnham on Sea in September of that year. I have been a keen sports person all my life and continue to run regularly as a sport. I am a UK Athletics, Licensed Level 2, practising Coach in Running Fitness. I have been Catholic all my life and have served in every capacity of the Church that may be fulfilled by a lay person.
I have served as a Foundation Governor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary and Nursery School since appointment on the 1 January 2016 and now appointed as from the 1 January 2018 to the newly established Holy Trinity Catholic Federation. My career in Telecommunications Management has encompassed a wide range of skills and attributes that are particularly suitable to the requirements of the Federation Resource Committee of which, I now serve as Chair. In this embryonic stage of the Holy Trinity Federation, I hope to bring and create value to the Governing Board and the education process of our children, whilst striving for the ultimate goal of an outstanding Catholic learning and teaching environment.

I have spent my whole working life in Education. My teaching experience has all been on Merseyside, first as a teacher, then for many years as deputy-head before acting as Head Teacher. I then worked as an inspector for OFSTED for ten years before taking up teacher training with Buckingham University. This took me all over the world. My wife and I put our six children through catholic education then to university. I have worked on four previous governing bodies both as clerk and governor.

I have lived in Somerset all of my life and am a parent of two children at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary and Nursery School. As a member of the federated Governing Board I am looking to share the skills that I have learnt throughout my working career. As an experienced Procurement Manager at North Somerset Council I am experienced in purchasing and sourcing best value. My role on the board, and the Resources Committee means that I can impart my knowledge and experience when it comes to buying decisions, ensuring that both schools get the most from their budgetary spend. In addition I have experience in project management, contracts and am currently at College studying for a Foundation Diploma in Leadership Management. Having worked in both the private and public sector in both retail and local government I believe I possess a wide range of skills which I’m sure will enable me to help make the right decisions on behalf of both schools.

Foundation Governor
I have fond memories of my own time at Corpus Christi and was really keen therefore to send our 3 children here and I was accepted as Parent Governor in September 2016.
I was a Bank Manager before I had the children and my 20+ years banking background has given me skills that not only ensure efficient analysis of finance but have equipped me in people management, compliance and risk.
Having children at one of the schools in the federation gives me insight into the teaching and learning from another perspective. It allows me to have a very valuable relationship with the staff and children and obviously regular visits to the schools aside from any governor specific visits. Most importantly it makes me absolutely determined to see our Catholic primary schools delivering the very best education and I want to do anything I can to support the senior leaders at St Joseph’s and Corpus Christi.
