For those of you that are new to the provision of local cross country racing, here is a little information that may help.
Schools that are members of the Bridgwater Primary School Sports Association have access to 3-4 inter-school Cross Country races over the Autumn and Spring terms. The races are held after school with venues being selected around the Sedgemoor area. There are a total of 8 races per event (Year 3 Boys, Year 3 Girls, Year 4 Boys, Year 4 Girls, Year 5 Boys, Year 5 Girls, Year 6 Boys, Year 6 Girls). Year 3/4 races are approximately 1km in distance with the Year 5/6 races slightly longer at approximately 1.5 km.
Parents transport children to and from the event and are required to supervise their own child(ren) at the event itself. Our School Games Coordinator, along with members of staff from the different schools attending will help to organise, marshal, and of course record the results of each race in turn.
Our school have been crowned Sedgemoor Area Champions twice in the last three years - A huge accolade considering how popular the sport has become.
At the end of the race series, a team will be selected to represent the area in the County Final. Last Year we had 3 children selected for this event!
Cross Country meetings confirmed for Monday 21st October 19 for Year 6 and Year 3 and on Tuesday 22nd October 19 Year 4 and Year 5. Both meetings at North Petherton Rugby Club first race begins at 4.15pm
