EYFS Branch 4 Desert to Garden

 Year 1 Working at Age Related Outcomes

  • Pupils will recognise that Lent is a time when Christians prepare for Easter and recognise some basic facts about LentAT1
  • Pupils will be able to recognise the following words and phrases in the context of Lent:  Ash Wednesday, Ashes, Helping others, 40 days, Holy Week, Fasting, Repent.AT1
  • Pupils will recognise the story of Zachaeus and will recognise the key point of the story (Please note at this stage you tell them the key point they would not be expected to work this out though some may)AT1
  • Pupils will be able to ask a range of questions about the story of ZachaeusAT2

 

Year 2 Working at Age Related Outcomes

  • Pupils will be able to describe some of the main activities Christians take part in during Lent. AT1
  • Pupils will be able to retell the major events of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday.  AT1
  • Pupils will be able to use correctly in the context of Lent the following words and phrases: Journey, Fast, Stations of the Cross, Betray, Hosanna. AT1
  • Pupils will be able to identify the meaning of the colour purple in LentAT1
  • Pupils will be able to ask questions about how Christians prepare during Lent. AT2
  • Pupils will be able to ask questions about the events of Holy week that they have studied. AT2

 

Year 4 Age related Outcomes

  • Pupils will be able to retell the story of Edmund selecting appropriate material to show how this links to Christian beliefs AT1 (in particular you can focus on two aspects: Like Edmund we face temptations and like Aslan God is there for those who fail)
  • Pupils will be able to describe the temptations of Jesus and explain the meaning of them making links with the beliefs of ChristiansAT1
  • Pupils will be able to state the meaning of the mission statement of Jesus.AT1
  • Pupils will be able to show how the story of Jesus temptation and his Mission statement have consequences in terms of the actions of Christians AT2
  • Pupils will be able to express a view on the topic God is there for the poor selecting evidence to support their view. AT3

Year 5 Age related Outcomes

  • Pupils will be able to make links between their own feelings and beliefs and the notion of right and wrong. AT2
  • Pupils will be able to express their own views with appropriate reasons to the question ‘are we all capable of doing things wrong’ AT3
  • Pupils will be able to make links between the concept of Metanoia and Lent AT1
  • Pupils will be able to make links between the words of the Gospel and the need Christians feel to change their way of life during Lent AT1
  • Pupils will be able to make links between the design of Hunger Cloths and the beliefs of Christians

 

 

Year 6 Age related Outcomes  

  • Pupils will show understanding of the key concepts and beliefs  for Christians in Lent AT1 

  • Pupils will show understanding of the ‘Stations of the Cross’ and will be able to link these to issues in modern life. AT1&AT2 

  • Pupils will show understanding of the journey Catechumens make and be able (with support) to link this to Lent. AT1 

  • Pupils will show understanding of the Beatitudes and their relevance for Christians today. AT1& AT2
