Science Week 2026! This morning we joined the BBC Live Lesson about Space! We learnt about Space and light sources as part of the National Theme of Curiosity which was also our Spring Term 1 Value!

World Book Day 2026!🌍📚 Story sharing with Reception/Y1!

World Book Day 2026! 🌍📚 We havve had a lovely day in Year 5 today, we have taken part in a 'Mystery Story' activity where we chose a book for a Class/Library, wrapped it up, wrote clues and then went on secret missions to hide them around the School! WE have also made character Top Trumps for wet play, taken part in the BBC Live Lesson, coloured, completed word searches & read to the children in Reception/Year 1!

Science - Which material makes the best thermal insulator?

RE- Today we acted out conversations about Ash Wednesday Mass ensuring we were using key topical vocabulary!

Maths in Action! Year 5 are taking part in the Somerset Counts Maths Project with Mrs Lamb, as part of this we are exploring problem solving through worked examples. Today, we got hands on and used lots of different ways to solve a cinema seating problem!

Children’s Mental Health Week - This year the theme is ‘This is my place’ We thought about places which make us feel happy and respected such as home, school, church and clubs.

National Storytelling Week- KS2 have enjoyed exploring stories through rap and rhythm with Alim Kamara!

English- Hot Seating Beowulf!

History: Today we thought carefully about Holocaust Memorial Day which is a national commemoration day in the United Kingdom dedicated to the remembrance of the Jews and others who suffered in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution. It was first held in January 2001 and has been on the same date every year since. The children watched today's Newsround Round Up and then followed this up watching Holocaust: Finding my Family a Newsround Special. The children were so engaged and asked lots of amazing and thoughtful questions demonstrating our school value of Curiosity!

We spoke about how this has happened in the past and how it is a vital part of history to remember those who sadly lost their lives in this awful way.

PE- Winter Sports Inspired Dance. Today we were insipired by snowboarding, slalom skiing and figure skating!

Our Trip to The Museum of Somerset in Taunton! We had great fun making soap, writing with quills, visiting an Almshouse and exploring the artefacts in the Museum!

English- Beowulf Story Map Part 1

PE- Using basketball skills and basketball movements to create a dance sequence to ‘Getcha Head in the Game’ from High School Musical! Mr Fisher was very impressed with our sequence so far!

Science - Today we have been exploring the effects of water resistance. We created four different shapes. Which will sink first?
