Is your child due to start school next September 2026?

A child can start school in September after they turn 4. All applications for a starting school place in September 2026 must be made to your home authority. Please find below the link to the Citizen Portal for school applications. These must be done online by 15th January 2026. The Citizen Portal for starting school applications will open on 29 September 2025.

Admission Arrangements for 2026-27 Dear Parent/Carer(s), After a public consultation, the governing board of The Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust has determined admission arrangements for the 2026-27 school year and published them on the Trust’s website https://www.thedcet.com/key-information/policies/ Thank you for taking the trouble to take part in the consultation.

The governing body of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School and Nursery (as part of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust) are consulting on their proposed admission arrangements for the 2026-27 school year. Proposed changes from the existing arrangements include: a) The introduction of new oversubscription criteria for: - Children who are a member of an Eastern Christian Church - Children of another Christian denomination - Children of another faith - Children of a member of School staff, within each category. b) The introduction of a new Supplementary Information Form (to help process applications from those applying under the religious and/or categories). c) A new In-Year application form (reflecting the above new criteria, for those applying for admission ‘In-year’ i.e. during the school year and not at the start of the Reception Year) d) The use of a random number generator to help rank applicants, rather than drawing lots. e) A revised definition of home address to include any address where the child spends any part of the school week.

How you find out which school you’ve been offered

If you applied online by 15 January 2026, you will receive an email with the outcome of your application on 16 April 2026. If you applied using a paper application form your outcome will be sent out by second class post on 16 April 2026.

From 16 April 2026 you can also view the outcome of your application by logging into the online application system.
