  • BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE FROM THE ST JOSEPH GIRLS AT THE COUNTY FOOTBALL FINALS

Fri 28 Jan 2022 Mr Fisher

Today I had the pleasure of accompanying the Year 5/6 Girls Football Team to the ESFA  County Football Finals held at Strode College in Street. The girls were representing both St Joseph's and the Sedgemoor Area at this prestigious event, pitted against selected other schools from across the County who had either won or finished runners up in their area competitions.

I'm pleased to say that once again the girls did not disappoint, performing brilliantly on the center stage. They were unlucky not to make the semi-finals but finished the day with just the two loses and three goalless draws - a magnificent achievement considering most of our competitors were either large Junior or Middle schools!

There were many memorable moments throughout the day. A penalty save from Maisie in the last couple of minutes of one game certainly brought a huge cheer from all the travelling parent spectators. But the stand out moments for me has to be the attitude of all the girls. It was such a spirited and determined performance and the girls never gave up, even when their legs were tired or they were losing. They were polite and well mannered towards officials throughout and respectful of the other girls they competed against. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU ALL GIRLS - WELL DONE!!

  • Year 4 Gymnasts Thrive In Area Competition

Fri 14 Jan 2022 Mr Fisher

On Tuesday a group of boys and girls from Year 4 represented St Joseph's in the Area Gymnastics competition held at Monarch's Gym Club in Highbridge. Competing against 6 other schools from around the area, the team were extremely successful and finished a very credible 3rd, narrowly missing out on a place in the prestigious County Finals by just 0.1 of a mark!! The competition itself required each child to learn a routine and perform it to a panel of judges in front of all the other children competing (there were 60 of them). I was incredibly impressed with all the group. They performed magnificently under a huge amount of pressure. A special mention must be given to Layla who finished 2nd overall in the competition and to Ruby who was 5th.
