  • Wimbledon awaits!

    Fri 19 Jun 2015
Wednesday 17th June was a really busy day for 16 girls and boys from St Joseph's who competed in the Sedgemoor Area Tennis Tournament held at the Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham. The competition which seems to increase in size every year was once again a huge success with over 120 children (30 different teams) from around the area making the journey to the sunny courts of Burnham-on-Sea. The team, made up of children who have been involved in Mr Fisher's afterschool tennis club were magnificent! For the majority of them, this is the first time that they have represented the school at inter school level and they all competed with passion, determination and displaying incredible team spirit, whether they won, lost or drew their games. Although we did not progress to the finals of the competition, I feel that it is safe to say that the experience was a really positive one for all the children. A huge well done to the team - You were a credit to the school and yourselves and should be very proud of your achievements.
  • Athletics Success at St Joseph's!

    Fri 19 Jun 2015
On Monday 15th June a team of 32 children from Year 3-6 travelled to Robert Blake Science Academy to compete in the Area Quad Kids Athletics Championships. Each member of the team was required to complete a sprint, a throw, a standing long jump and a longer run. Points were awarded for times and distances and at the end of the competition the team winners were announced. I'm very happy to say that our Year 3/4 team of girls and boys finished in a magnificent second place with our Year 5/6 team going one better and winning their competition. A team of team of Year 3/4 and 5/6 will now be selected to represent the area in the prestigious School Games County Finals being held on Thursday 2nd July. A huge well done to everyone who was involved in this event and good luck to those that are selected to compete in the County Finals. Please find more pictures of this event in the Gallery.
