  • Primary Anti-Bullying Ambassadors - News from King Alfred's School

Fri 13 Oct 2017 Nicki Rogers
Over the last three weeks the Parent & Family Support Advisors (PFSAs)
had a great time training our Year 6 Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in
    readiness for Anti-Bullying Week 13th - 17th November 2017. The PFSA
Team are based here at King Alfred School, but work not only with King
Alfred School students but also students from all the Primary and Junior
    schools.
On Wednesday it was the turn of students from St. Andrew’s and St.
Joseph’s Schools. The students mixed very well and engaged
fantastically with the training. Students were chosen to take part having
completed an application. There will be a Celebration/Awards Evening at
King Alfred School on 8th November 2017 for the 60 Anti-Bullying
    Ambassadors.
Thank you to staff at all the Junior Schools for helping the team to
co-ordinate the event and Gail Maxwell-Grange and Declan Shortall for
organising the sessions. We’re very proud of the whole group and their
commitment to tackling bullying in our community.
  • Boys unbeaten in ESFA tournament

Thu 12 Oct 2017 Mr Fisher
The boys football team produced a spirited display this week as they travelled to Bridgwater and competed in the opening round of the prestigious ESFA tournament. Despite not losing a single game, unfortunately two draws against North Petherton and Churchfield were not enough to take them through to the next round. A super effort from all concerned - Well done lads.
  • Girls Football Thriving at St Joseph's

Mon 02 Oct 2017 Mr Fisher

With nearly 20 Key Stage 2 Girls attending after school football on a Thursday night, the future looks really rosy for the girls football team here at St Joseph's. The standard of football being played is undoubtedly improving and the girls always have smiles on their faces. Maybe the next England hopeful will come from St Joseph's! Keep up the great work girls - you are all amazing.

  • Cross Country Success

Mon 02 Oct 2017 Mr Fisher
On a cold, wet and miserable evening last week, 35 children from St Joseph's travelled all the way to North Petherton Rugby Club to participate in the first Sedgemoor area cross country of the year. With representatives from Year 3 all the way up to Year 6 our 35 strong team was undoubtedly one of the highest school attendances at the event! With every runner accumulating points for the school, it's all about participation and being part of the team. There were of course medal winners coming from St Joseph's (a special well done to Finley, Isla, Harriet, Mercina and James who picked up individual honours) but more importantly a MASSIVE well done to the St Joseph's team effort and EVERYONE who ran. We currently stand 2nd in the league table out of the 20+ schools who competed. You were all magnificent and I can't wait for the next race!
  • Girls Football Team Win Final Game 4-0

Mon 02 Oct 2017 Mr Fisher
A huge well done to our girls football team who recently represented the school in the ESFA area tournament held at Robert Blake school in Bridgwater. The girls played some outstanding football with great camaraderie and team spirit and although we did not progress to the next stage of the competition, we were hugely successful in our final game against a strong Kingmoor team who were unbeaten as we went on to win 4-0. A great way to sign off a hugely successful evening of football - Well done girls!
