  • Girls Football Team Conquer All!

Thu 30 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

Well I don't really know what to say other than an enormous well done to our Girls Football Team who travelled all the way to Bridgwater College today to play football in a Sedgemoor Area Tournament. The conditions today were absolutely freezing, but that didn't stop our girls from emerging from the competition as overall winners! In total the team played 8 games against a selection of other schools from around the Sedgemoor area. We finished the competition with 7 wins and a draw, scoring 25 goals and conceding just the 2! A remarkable performance from all the girls concerned and one which will earn them a place in the County Finals being held in January. Just brilliant!!

  • Year 5/6 Boys Reach ESFA County Finals!

Tue 28 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

A brilliant display of footballing talent saw our Year 5/6 Boys reach the ESFA County Finals last week. The boys travelled all the way to Bridgwater where the played a whole morning of football against the best other schools from around the area and I'm happy to say finished the tournament unbeaten! They will now represent the Sedgemoor Area in the prestigious County Finals which will be held in the New Year!

  • Year 3/4 Boys Football Team Finish 2nd!

Tue 28 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

Congratulations to our Year 3/4 Boys Football that finished a magnificent 2nd in last weeks Area Football Tournament. The boys played some superb football, losing just the one game and finishing second place in their round of matches. I look forward to watching the team play again in their next competition.

  • St Joseph's Crowned Sedgemoor Area Sports Hall Athletics Champions!

Thu 16 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

A magnificent well done to all 21 girls and boys who represented the school today in the Sedgemoor Area Sports Hall Athletics Finals held at Bridgwater College. After a busy morning of competition, I am pleased to say that the the St Joseph's team ran, jumped and threw their way to a tremendous victory. Fending off strong competition from all over the area, I was lucky enough to witness a truly brilliant display from everyone who took part!! This result will hopefully take us on to the next stage of the competition and a place in the County Finals at the beginning of next year . . . . watch this space!

  • We will remember them

    Sat 11 Nov 2023 R Williams

Today we listened to a Remembrance Assembly led by Mrs Lamb and Mrs Chrystall.

It really made us think of our Ancestors who fought in the War.   Remembering those who gave their lives long ago is an important act that honours those who have passed and reminds us of the bravery of our current-day veterans and active-duty members of the Armed Forces, some of whom have also died or been injured in the service of our nation.  At the Remembrance Day parade on Sunday, Mrs Green presented a Poppy Wreath on behalf of everyone at St Joseph's School.

  • 2nd and 3rd Place for Footballing Girls!

Tue 07 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

Today, both of our Girls football teams played in a Sedgemoor Area Schools competition. Both teams of girls were split into two separate pools against six other schools from around the area and they ALL performed remarkably well.

After all of the pool matches had been played, one of our teams finished with two wins and a loss, with the other team remaining unbeaten with two wins and a draw.

We ended up with one team in the  3rd/4th place final which I'm happy to say they won and finished a magnificent 3rd place! This left our other team of girls contesting the overall competition final! A amazing battling display saw a final score of 0-0 and meant they ended the competition with a nerve racking penalty shoot out!

Unfortunately, someone has to lose in a final and although the girls took some brilliant penalties and Amelia made a great save, they were just piped by Hamp Academy.

A TRUELY BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE FROM ALL THE GIRLS - WELL DONE!

  • Cross country super stars at it again!

Thu 02 Nov 2023 Mr Fisher

With the races condensed into one afternoon due to some fairly awful weather, a slightly depleted number of children decided to brave the elements and compete for the school in the first cross country of the 2023-24 season!

The children of St Joseph's never cease to amaze me and once again there were 27 fantastic performances with points accumulating from EVERYONE that raced! We are currently sitting in 4th place out of 16 schools (Brilliant effort).

There were too many racers for me to mention everyone who attended the event but a special mention must go out to Ethan in Year 5 with a gutsy 14th position in an incredibly strong field and to Ciara (also in Year 5) who battled all the way to the end and earned some well deserved points for the school.

There were of course a number of other amazing results, including top ten finishes for Rowan, Freya, Lilah in Year 3, Molly, Emma, Ava and Oscar in Year 4, Emily in Year 5 and finally Harry and Jolie in Year 6!

WELL DONE EVERYONE and I look forward to watching you all race again on Wednesday 13th November (Years 3 and 5) and Thursday 14th December (Years 4and 6) at Bridgwater College Academy.
