Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
Wednesday and Thursday of this week saw 32 children from St Joseph's compete in the first cross country race of the season. The conditions on the Brymore course were fairly good this year, apart from it being little windy! With 392 athletes from across the region racing over the two days, the girls and boys from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 did not disappoint. They were just brilliant! Every child that made the effort to run earned the school valuable points and I'm pleased to say, the school currently sits in 5th place out of the 13 schools competing. A great effort from everyone concerned! Below is a copy of the current league standings after Race 1:

Today a ten strong team of footballing girls travelled all the way to Bridgwater College to play in this years ESFA Sedgemoor Area Finals. With 11 other schools competing in the competition, the St Joseph's squad played some extraordinary football and made it through their group stage matches, winning every game and topping the group! Victories against St Andrew's, St John and St Francis, Eastover, the Huntspills and Somerset Bridge booked the girls a place in the finals! A closely contended contest saw our girls play some tremendous football and emerge victorious with a 2-1 win!! With passion, determination and a positive team spirit throughout the tournament, our girls deserved to be crowned winners, not to mention the football on show which was just brilliant! The school will now represent the Sedgemoor Area in the County Finals in January which I believe are being played in Weston this year! SUPERB EFFORT!!
A set of brilliant performances today saw our boys finish a super 5th place out of 12 teams in this years ESFA Area qualifiers. The team of 9 boys finished the competition with one win, three draws and just the one loss! They conceded just two goals in the entire tournament which is remarkable considering they are playing against the best teams in the area! The football on display was just incredible as well as the positive attitude and work rate displayed by every single player on the pitch! Great effort lads!
