  • Footballing Girls Just Can't Stop Winning!!

Fri 26 Nov 2021 Mr Fisher

Wednesday saw our girls football team travel to Bridgwater College Academy to play three league games on the 3G astroturf. With a few new additions to the team, the girls were once again just AMAZING! They were competitive in all areas of the pitch. Our defenders were almost impossible to pass, the midfield was energetic as they attacked and defended at pace and our skillful strikers hit the target on numerous occasions. A special mention has to go to our goalkeeper who made some terrific saves!! We finished the three games unbeaten with two wins (2-0 and 1-0) and a goalless 0-0 draw. Another brilliant effort girls - WELL DONE!!

  • GIRLS FOOTBALL TEAM REACH ESFA COUNTY FINALS

Mon 22 Nov 2021 Mr Fisher

On Friday morning, a team of 8 girls travelled to Bridgwater and Taunton College to play in the ESFA Area Finals. This was the first competitive football these girls had played in over two years and I have to say they were quite simply AMAZING!!!! After a tough series of eight matches they were crowned area champions, having won five, drawn two and lost just the one! We now look forward to the County Finals which are being held in January. WELL DONE GIRLS - A TRULY MAGNIFICENT RESULT AND VERY MUCH DESERVED.

  • Boys bow out in ESFA semi-finals

Mon 22 Nov 2021 Mr Fisher

On Friday afternoon a team of 8 boys from St Joseph's travelled to Bridgwater and Taunton College to compete in the ESFA Area Tournament. The boys began the group stage of the competition with three wins out of three and victories against St Mary's (1-0), Somerset Bridge (1-0) and Kingmoor (1-0).

Progressing to the semi-finals, confidence was high in light of the brilliant football they had been playing. The boys were truly magnificent in this match, matching their opposition in all areas of the field. As the game neared the end, a goalless draw looked the likely result. However, we all know how cruel competitive sport can be and a last minute strike from an extremely competitive BCA meant that the boys were sadly knocked out of the competition! It was heartbreaking for the team, but they should be very proud of how they conducted themselves, both on and off the pitch - they were quite simply superb!! WELL DONE!!

  • Cross-Country Super Stars!!

Mon 08 Nov 2021 Mr Fisher

A huge well done to the 45 children who travelled to Brymore in Cannington and represented St Joseph's in the first Cross-Country race of the year. The children were once again truly magnificent and the level of effort displayed by everyone who competed was just brilliant! What I love most about this competition is that everyone who races plays a part in the overall team score, whatever your finishing position. Whether you are first or last, you earn points for the school and those points all add up. After one race it's all very close at the top (see below). We are currently sat in 6th place, but only 31 points behind third! A remarkable result considering an early break-up for Half Term meant that we were actually on holiday for the second of the two races!! Well done to everyone who raced and I'll be forwarding on information about the second race in the series later this month.
