  • Girls Football Team Reach County Finals

Tue 13 Nov 2018 Mr Fisher

Well, what can I say other than .....JUST AMAZING!!!!!

Yesterday afternoon a team of ten girls from Years 4, 5 and 6 travelled all the way to Robert Blake School, Bridgwater to compete in the ESFA Sedgemoor Area Football Finals. Having already won our opening matches in the preliminary rounds the girls were extremely excited about playing against the best schools in the Sedgemoor area - all of which had won their preliminary matches in the competition. This is probably the toughest round to progress through as the winners are asked to represent the area in the prestigious County Finals held in January.

Anyway, the girls competed in three matched (each match was 10 minutes each way) and after wins against Eastover (2-1), Kingsmoor (3-1) and Somerset Bridge (2-1), St Joseph's finished the competition unbeaten as Area Champions and will now progress to the County Finals early next year. Every single member of the teams played with passion, determination and the team effort was just outstanding. WELL DONE GIRLS and we look forward to the County Finals in January!

  • Boys Football Team Win Twice But Are Knocked Out!

Tue 16 Oct 2018 Mr Fisher
Yesterday afternoon , the boys football team travelled all the way to Robert Blake Science College, Bridgwater to compete in the first round of the ESFA football tournament. This competition is always a difficult one with the overall winners selected to represent the Area in the County Finals. Unfortunately, St Joseph's just slip into the large schools group which means that many of the schools are at least twice the size of ours making our task even more difficult! Anyway, the boys were absolutely magnificent and in my eyes played the best football of the competition, however, as we all know football can be a very cruel game and despite having countless opportunities and probably 80% possession in two of the games, two quick breaks caught us out and we lost twice 1-0. Despite impressive wins against North Petherton and overall winners Eastover, the Boys were sadly knocked out of the competition having played some brilliant football. Better luck next time boys!
  • Cross Country Super Stars At It Again!

Fri 12 Oct 2018 Mr Fisher
Well, what more can I say other than a huge well done to all the children who travelled to North Petherton last week to compete in the first Cross Country of the season. The results show that out of the 401 children who ran, more than 30 came from St Joseph's! There were a total of 21 schools represented and I'm really excited to say that St Joseph's currently sit in 5th place with two events remaining - a magnificent effort from everyone who raced and scored us points. Roll on the next race!!!
  • MacMillan Non School Uniform Day and Cake Sale

    Wed 03 Oct 2018

Thank you all so much for your kind donations of cakes for the cake sale last Friday.

We raised a fantastic £348 for MacMillan Cancer Support thanks to your generosity with both the cake sale and the Non School Uniform donations.

The staff 'Bake Off' went well with 1st place going to Miss Kelly for her Bakewell Cake with a fruity jam filling, drizzle iced and topped with toasted almonds, 2nd place to Miss Bishop who made St Clements Cup Cakes topped with a Terry's Chocolate Orange Slice and 3rd was Angela's Carrot Cake with Walnut butter icing topped with chopped walnuts. The winners received a prestigious glitter and ribbon decorated wooden spoon.

The Staff and Children enjoyed a cake filled day. Thank you once again, we could not have raised this amount without your help.

MacMillan Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning 28th Sept 2018

    Dear Parents

On Friday 28th September we are planning to hold a Macmillan Cake Sale in support of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for the charity.

We therefore would appreciate if anyone could bake or supply cakes to help raise money. The Children on this day will be able to wear their own clothes ‘with a dash of green-the MacMillan Colours’ for a contribution of £1 per family. Please take your £1 in cash to a class teacher. For this they will be given a cake each during the morning, then any cakes leftover will be available for parents to buy from 2.45 onwards. Consequently the more cakes we have the better!

Cakes could be brought in on the Thursday or Friday morning and taken to the DT room.

If you have any queries then please ask Mr Lawrence or at the office.

  • Girls Football Team Triumph

Tue 18 Sep 2018 Mr Fisher
A huge well done to the Girls Football team who travelled all the way to Robert Blake Science College yesterday afternoon to compete in the first round of the ESFA football tournament. The nine girls selected from years 4 to 6 were absolutely magnificent, playing with maximum effort and determination throughout the competition. After four games, I'm pleased to say the St Joseph's girls finished the tournament as overall winners with two wins, one draw and just a single loss! A great start to the season and I am happy to say the girls will now progress to the Sedgemoor Area Finals in a few weeks......Just brilliant!
