Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
Braving the wind and rain , a group of ten Year 5 children travelled all the way to North Petherton Rugby Club to compete in a local Tag Rugby Festival. With very little experience of the sport and playing against some teams who live and breathe rugby the children performed brilliantly and undoubtedly grew in confidence and expertise as the competition progressed. It was great to hear about such passion, determination and resilience on display throughout the afternoon. Well done all of you, you should be very proud of yourselves.
Since returning from the Christmas break, a group of 20 Year 3 and 4 children have been attending an after school Gymnastics club run by Mr Fisher. To mark the end of the club, Mel Bax, a Gymnastic specialist has run a competition based around the Key Steps routine and spring board vault that the children have been learning. Pictured below are the children who have been attending the Club and competed brilliantly in the competition. WELL DONE ALL OF YOU!
A team of our year 6 pupils took part in the DCET Catenian public speaking competition today against the other schools in the trust.
They were an absolute credit to our school and were the overall competition winners with their speech on Catholic social teaching: the common good!

An enormous well done to the Year 4 boys football team who were just truly magnificent in today's tournament held at Haygrove school in Bridgwater. Playing against 9 other school teams from around the area (Eastover, Somerset Bridge, Churchfield, Kingmoor, St Mary's, St John and St Francis, Enmore and St Joseph's in Bridgwater) the boys ran out overall winners scoring 23 goals and not conceding any!!!! A 3-0 victory against local rivals Churchfield in the final ensured they were crowned champions. A FANTASIC FOOTBALLING DISPLAY THAT YOU SHOULD ALL BE VERY PROUD OF!
Well, I don't really know what to say! This was an absolutely outstanding performance from the 12 girls and 11 boys from Years 3 and 4 who represented the school today in the Year 3/4 Sports Hall Athletics Area Finals. Pitted against a large number schools from the surrounding area (Enmore, Kingsmoor, St John and St Francis, Somerset Bridge, St Joseph's Bridgwater, Nether Stowey, Eastover, Otterhampton and Hamp) the St Joseph's children ran, jumped and threw their way to an amazing victory! WHAT A BRILLIANT TEAM EFFORT FROM EVERYONE CONCERNED .........You all worked so hard and should be very proud of yourselves. CONGRATULATIONS ON A WELL DESERVED VICTORY!!!!!!!
A huge well done to the 20+ girls and boys who represented St Joseph's in the latest cross country held at King Alfred's. We had some amazing performances from all of our Year 3 and Year 5 representatives in once again rather cold and testing conditions! The overall competition is very close and the St Joseph's children have undoubtedly bridged the gap between themselves and the first place team! With one more set of races to go for our Year 4 and Year 6 children, it's all to play for! School results are below:

Two teams of Year 4 and 5 boys represented the school this afternoon in a huge Futsal tournament held at Haygrove School in Bridgwater.
The tournament itself attracted 16 teams from all over the area, so as you can imagine, competition was extremely fierce!
There were four pools which meant that each team got to play three group stage matches and a final, dependent on their finishing position in the pool.
Both teams of boys played incredibly well with passion and determination and I was fortunate enough to observe some of the best football I have seen in a very long time!
Our school is considerably smaller than most of the opposition on show which highlights the strength in depth that we have here at St Joseph's.
One of the teams finished with two wins and two loses (amazing), with the other team finishing the competition with two draws and two wins! They didn't concede a goal and even beat the winners of the overall competition in the process!
Well done boys, this was an unbelievable effort and you should be very proud of yourselves!!
This afternoon, both myself and Mr Franklin had the pleasure of accompanying two teams of footballers from St Joseph's to a local area tournament being held at The King Alfred School, Burnham.
The competition drew in schools from the surrounding area and there were representatives from Churchfield, Bridgwater College Academy (BCA), Westover Green, St Mary's, St John and St Francis and Somerset Bridge.
The boys were amazing putting on a determined and spirited effort in every game and at the same time playing some brilliant football! One of our teams even ended finishing the competition unbeaten!
What makes these performances even more remarkable is that out of the 17 boys that participated, only one of them was in Year 6 meaning that the future of football looks really rosy at St Joseph's!! WELL DONE LADS.
The ice and freezing temperatures didn't seem to stop 18 brave children from Joseph's competing in this week's cross country race! With arctic conditions across the county, the children were yet again amazing as they ventured out onto a freezing Brymore course! It's never easy to run such a distance, but with the cold to contend with as well, the children should be extremely proud of their achievements.
Great effort everyone!! The stats are below and with one more race to go (King Alfred's) it's very close in the league standings:
