  • Governor Vacancy

    Mon 21 Sep 2020

    Governor Vacancy:

The School Governors are seeking a can-do person to join our stable and effective team, technically to represent the Local Authority but really to share the work of this busy group who govern both St Joseph’s Burnham and Corpus Christi Weston Super Mare.

Whilst meetings are by virtual means now, they normally take place alternately in the schools. You would be committing yourself to six meetings a year with the opportunity to visit both schools for monitoring purposes.

If you are interested, please contact either school office: St Joseph’s at 01278 784641 or Corpus Christi at 01934 621919 to make an appointment to meet Helen Taylor, our Executive Head and Allan Paver, Chairman of Governors.

  • Year 3/4 Gymnasts Compete in Sedgemoor Area Competition

Tue 17 Mar 2020 Mr Fisher
Despite all that is happening in the world today, a 16 strong team of gymnasts from St Joseph's competed in the first round of the Sedgemoor Area Schools Gymnastics competition. The children had to remember and perform a set routine followed by a tricky vault where they were scored by Mel Bax who is running the competition. Fantastic performances all round from everyone who took part and we now wait to see if we have qualified for the next round!

We  now wait to hear if we have qualified for the next stage of the competition. Well done everyone who took part.
  • DfE Launch a New Helpline for Schools for Coronavirus advice

    Thu 05 Mar 2020

    New schools’ helpline for Coronavirus

The Department of Education (DfE) has launched a new helpline for schools to answer education-related questions about COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

The helpline is open on 0800 046 8687 from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and is available to staff, parents and young people. Alternatively, you can email: DfE.coronavirus@education.gov.uk

There are still no positive COVID-19 cases in Somerset, but our local health and care services are well prepared with well-rehearsed plans in place to deal with any potential outbreaks.

You should be assured that should a case be confirmed anywhere in the country, Public Health England would contact all those who have come into close contact with them and give specific advice of what action to take.

Government advice is reviewed daily and updated regularly. For the latest information, advice and guidance, check out https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

The best way to protect yourself and others from the virus and stop it spreading is to practice good hygiene habits – if you need to cough or sneeze catch it with a tissue, bin it and kill it by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
