  • Sports Hall Athletics Team Crowned Area Champions

Thu 30 Nov 2017 Mr Fisher
Well, what can I say? Today a squad of 18 children (9 girls and 9 boys) travelled to Bridgwater College to participate in the Sports Hall Athletics Area Finals. Competing against 18 other schools from around the Sedgemoor area, the team of girls and boys from St Joseph's ran, jumped and threw their way to the top! With every single member of the team competing in 4 events (two track and two field) there were of course some extraordinary individual performances. But today was more about the team performance. Times and distances from all the events were accumulated to give an overall team score. With a remarkable tally of over 1,300 points, St Joseph's were crowned area champions and will hopefully look forward to a place in the County Finals. Well done everyone concerned - you were amazing!

The ladies from 'Specsavers' performed a colourful 'Diwali' dance for us to show the importance of having healthy eyes to see colour,

  • Nutty Noah Comes to St Joseph's

Thu 16 Nov 2017 Mr Fisher
Well, what can I say? Last Friday night saw St Joseph's school host an absolutely amazing performance delivered by Nationally recognised children's entertainer 'Nutty Noah'. Organised by the ever energetic 'Friends of St Joseph's' team, over 120 tickets were sold for this superb show! Children, parents and friends thoroughly enjoyed an evening of entertainment, fun and laughter. A huge thank you should once again go to the team that helped with the organisation of this event, with much of the money raised on this occasion going towards subsidising the school Cinema trips at Christmas. A special thank you to Mrs Green and the rest of the team - the children here at St Joseph's are very lucky to have such a dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes and raising money that benefits everyone.
  • Year 3/4 Football Festival Success

Thu 09 Nov 2017 Mr Fisher
Today our school hosted a Year 3/4 football festival involving schools from St Joseph's, Churchfield, Berrow, St Andrew's, West Huntspill and East Huntspill. Rather than playing games for their school teams, the children were all mixed together and played a series of matches against one another. The attitude and effort on display was superb and all the children seemed to enjoy themselves.

  • Primary Anti-Bullying Ambassadors - News from King Alfred's School

Fri 13 Oct 2017 Nicki Rogers
Over the last three weeks the Parent & Family Support Advisors (PFSAs)
had a great time training our Year 6 Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in
    readiness for Anti-Bullying Week 13th - 17th November 2017. The PFSA
Team are based here at King Alfred School, but work not only with King
Alfred School students but also students from all the Primary and Junior
    schools.
On Wednesday it was the turn of students from St. Andrew’s and St.
Joseph’s Schools. The students mixed very well and engaged
fantastically with the training. Students were chosen to take part having
completed an application. There will be a Celebration/Awards Evening at
King Alfred School on 8th November 2017 for the 60 Anti-Bullying
    Ambassadors.
Thank you to staff at all the Junior Schools for helping the team to
co-ordinate the event and Gail Maxwell-Grange and Declan Shortall for
organising the sessions. We’re very proud of the whole group and their
commitment to tackling bullying in our community.
