  • Beach Day Fun

    Fri 14 Jul 2017

On Monday 10th July the children of St Joseph's went down to the beach for the annual Sandcastle Building visit. Although the weather was not as warm as it has been of late everyone had lots of fun building sand art of all different shapes and sizes.

When they returned Angela and Alison had prepared a 'Seaside' lunch of Hotdogs followed by an Ice Cream Cone with sauce and sprinkles.

A huge well done to all of the children in St Matthew's (The Yellow Team) who were crowned champions in this years Sports Day 2017. The event is self rounded off a week of sport where all the classes were given the opportunity to play Golf, Rugby, Tennis with some classes even trying their hand at Zumba and Karate! • Sport Week 2017 - Golf and Rugby Success

    Tue 13 Jun 2017
On Monday of this week we had a visit from a Golf coach (Shane Kaye) who is the professional golfer at Berrow Golf Club. He came into school as part of our Sports Week and spent time working with all the classes and introducing them to the sport.

Tuesday saw a visit from Chris Spinks, a Rugby coach at Burnham-on-Sea Rugby club. Once again Chris worked with all the classes as he introduced them to rugby. I'm sure you'll agree the children in Year 1/2 look like they're having lots of fun learning how to play this sport!

  • Lunch Time Leaders Ready For Action!

    Thu 11 May 2017
A team of twenty Year 5 and 6 children attended a 'Lunch Time Leader' training session this week run by School Games Coordinator Nancy Murdock. Having seen posters scattered around the school detailing the description of the job, the enthusiastic boys and girls had to fill in an application form explaining why they thought they would be a good candidate. The responses were fantastic and as a result we now have a team of twenty children who are doing a sterling job ensuring the younger children in our school enjoy their lunch time break.
  • ST JOSEPH'S GYMNASTS TRIUMPH IN SOMERSET SCHOOLS GAMES FINALS

    Thu 27 Apr 2017
Today a team of 17 gymnasts from St Joseph's travelled all the way to Yeovil to compete in the Somerset School Games Gymnastics Finals. The Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teams had earned the right to represent both the school and area in these finals having previously beaten off competition from all other local schools in the Sedgemoor area.

The challenge of facing completion from the very best gymnast in the Mendip, Taunton and Yeovil area was rather daunting....however the children were just magnificent. Judged while executing two vaults and a rather difficult floor routine, the St Joseph super stars set to work with passion and determination and were faultless in my eyes. The Key Stage 1 teams finished in 6th and 3rd place, with our Key Stage 2 team finishing in 4th. They were a real credit to the school and I couldn't have been prouder! A special thank you to the parents who offered valuable support and also gave up their own time to transport the children there, it is much appreciated.
