Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
A fantastic display of swimming talent today saw St Joseph's finish 3rd in the Sedgemoor Area Gala! The children had travelled all the way to Chilton Trinity Pool (Bridgwater) to compete and they did not disappoint with some remarkable individual performances as well as relay triumphs! We now qualify for the next stage of the competition. Well done everyone, a brilliant all round team performance.
The cricket on display this afternoon from both the girls and boys was just amazing! Travelling all the way to Wembdon Cricket Club in Bridgwater, our two teams pitted themselves against the best schools in the area. There were a total of 25 schools represented from across Sedgemoor (15 boys teams and 10 girls teams).
Firstly, the girls competed and continued to grow in confidence with every game. They got better and better securing a fantastic win at the end of the competition.
As for the boys, they completed the competition with just the one loss and finished outright winners! They will now represent the school (and Area) in the County Finals later in the year.
Well done to all of you!
Participation in person with tickets only please.

For the second half of the Spring Term, the Junior classes have been visited by PE specialist Mr Irish. The Sports Premium Funding has enabled the school to employ Mr Irish to work alongside the teachers, supporting them in their delivery of Curriculum Dance. The children have enjoyed the provision offered and the teachers now have increased subject knowledge that will support them in the delivering of future lessons.
Yesterday evening a team of 5 girls and 4 boys from St Joseph's travelled all the way to Brymore Academy in Cannington to compete in this years Sedgemoor Area Tag Rugby Tournament. With very little experience of playing this game other than a 45 minute crash course delivered by Mr Fisher the week before, the team performed amazingly well! Their performances got better and better with every game and by the end of the competition we were holding our own with the very best schools at the event. With 12 teams taking part, a third place finish is just remarkable and credit has to go to every one of the children who took part in the competition. Your ability to adapt to playing a new sport was just fantastic to watch and I'm sure that if we attend future events, you will continue to impress. WELL DONE EVERYONE!!
A huge congratulations to our Year 3/4 Gymnasts who travelled all the way to Bridgewater to compete in the Sedgemoor Area Gymnastics Finals yesterday. Competing against 9 other schools from the surrounding area, the squad had to perform a routine and were score both individually and as part of a team. The competition was extremely strong and a 3rd place finish for the team is just remarkable with Evelyn taking an individual bronze medal as well. Great job!
A brilliant display of footballing skills saw our Year 5/6 Boys win the final football tournament of the season held at King Alfred's school this afternoon. The boys were absolutely amazing, fending off competition from Eastover, Kingsmoor, Berrow, St Andrew's and Churchfield without losing a game and without conceding a goal! A truly remarkable performance from the whole team. Well done everyone!
A huge well done to the Year 5/6 Boys Football Team who travelled all the way to Haygrove School in Bridgwater to compete in a Futsal Tournament today. A brilliant performance all round and with two wins, a draw and just the one loss you gained a very well deserved 2nd place in the competition.
Well I just don't know what to say other than a huge well done to all the children who have participated in any of the Sedgemoor cross country races this year. With a magnificent turn out of over 55 junior children in the latest race held at King Alfred's, the team have moved up another position in the league standing and finish the series in a magnificent 2nd place! A brilliant performance once again from everyone. The data for the last race of the season and final league standing can be seen below and there will undoubtedly be a number of our children who will be selected to represent the Sedgemoor Area in the County Finals next moth so watch this space!

A brilliant performance from our Year 2 Gymnasts this morning saw them finish the Key Steps Area Competition with a team silver medal! Performing a routine that has been practiced in Curriculum PE as well as in our after school club, the children were faultless under pressure as they performed in front of a judge and were scored accordingly. There were six schools competing (60 children in total) and the St Joseph's squad finished a remarkable second place! A special mention has to go to Alice, who also picked up a bronze medal as the third highest individual score of the day! GO TEAM ST JOSEPH'S!!!!
