Just before the Half Term break, a team of approximately 50 children from St Joseph's travelled all the way to Brymore, Cannington to compete in the first race of the new cross country season.
On this occasion, the weather was kind to us and it was great to see so many children from the school racing!

A huge congratulations to our Year 5/6 Girls football team who this afternoon qualified for the ESFA County Finals being held in Weston-Super Mare in the New Year.
Competing against 13 other Girls teams from around the Sedgemoor area, the St Joseph's superstars cruised to victory in all their group stages matches with wins against Brent Knoll (3-1), St John and St Francis (7-0), Hamp Academy (1-0) and St Mary's (1-0). A 1-0 win in the semi final against Somerset Bridge saw us play North Petherton for the title which I'm pleased to say we secured with a remarkable1-0 victory!! A magnificent display of footballing talent from all the girls who played some amazing football throughout the tournament. WELL DONE TEAM AND BRING ON THE COUNTY FINALS!!
A brilliant performance once again from our boys football team saw them triumph as overall competition winners in the ESFA football qualifiers for the Sedgemoor region. The boys played four group stage matches winning all of their games and finishing top of the group! They then went on to play against the second placed team from the neighboring group in the semi-finals which they won (1-0). A closely contested final saw the boys progress to a nerve-racking penalty shoot out which I'm pleased to say they won and were crowned area champions! St Joseph's will now represent the Sedgemoor area in the prestigious county finals at the beginning of next year. Superb effort boys!
This afternoon, our Year 5/6 Girls Football Team travelled all the way to BCA in Bridgwater to compete in their first tournament (Futsal) of the new academic year. A magnificent display of footballing skills saw the girls end up overall winners of the competition without losing a game or conceding a single goal on their route to victory! Well done girls, you were just brilliant and I can't wait until our next competition in a few weeks time.
Yesterday afternoon, our Year 6 Boys travelled all the way to Haygrove school in Bridgwater to compete in the first inter-school competition of the academic year. Pitted against stiff opposition from 12 other school and playing some remarkable football, the team won the whole competition without conceding a single goal! A brilliant display of futsal from all 9 boys and I look forward to watching you all in action again in a few weeks time.
Well I don’t really know what to say other than a huge congratulations to our Year 5 Area Sports team who flew the flag for St Joseph’s and finished a brilliant 3rd (out of 8 schools) in this year’s Sedgemoor Area Sports. The result is a spectacular effort and even more impressive as the competition is aimed at Years 5 and 6 children. With our Year 6 away on camp, the team was made up entirely of Year 5 children, so to finish 3rd in such a competition is just amazing and a credit to the sporting talent we have moving up through the school. Well done all of you and I look forward to next year’s event where you will all be eligible to compete again! The future looks rosy!
A brilliant team effort today saw our Year 3 and 4 boys and girls run, jump and throw their way to a 3rd place finish in the Sedgemoor Area Sport! Great job everyone!
A brilliant display of bowling, batting and fielding saw our boys finish 3rd in todays County Cricket Finals!
Travelling all the way to Wembdon Cricket Club, the team pitted themselves against the best teams from the surrounding area of Somerset.
Winning all their Group Stage matches, the boys eventually came unstuck in the semi-finals of the competition, in a closely fought contest against Bathwick St Mary.
This meant a 3rd/4th place play off, where the boys were just superb and ended up drawing the match and finishing the overall competition in joint 3rd place!
AN AMAZING RESULT WHICH WILL GO INTO THE ARCHIVES OF THE SCHOOL - NO ST JOSEPH'S TEAM HAS EVER PROGRESSED THIS FAR IN A CRICKET COMPETITION IN THE 27 YEARS I'VE BEEN TEACHING HERE!! WELL DONE BOYS!
A fantastic display of swimming talent today saw St Joseph's finish 3rd in the Sedgemoor Area Gala! The children had travelled all the way to Chilton Trinity Pool (Bridgwater) to compete and they did not disappoint with some remarkable individual performances as well as relay triumphs! We now qualify for the next stage of the competition. Well done everyone, a brilliant all round team performance.
The cricket on display this afternoon from both the girls and boys was just amazing! Travelling all the way to Wembdon Cricket Club in Bridgwater, our two teams pitted themselves against the best schools in the area. There were a total of 25 schools represented from across Sedgemoor (15 boys teams and 10 girls teams).
Firstly, the girls competed and continued to grow in confidence with every game. They got better and better securing a fantastic win at the end of the competition.
As for the boys, they completed the competition with just the one loss and finished outright winners! They will now represent the school (and Area) in the County Finals later in the year.
Well done to all of you!
